What People are Saying

Maggie Steele Headshot

In the Finger Lakes region, the local health departments have been struggling with finding a coordinated system that can seamlessly integrate all of their program data into one place, to make sense of what’s working and what’s not in their county. With the RBA framework, there’s a way for local health departments to work through understanding root causes, and how to build a clear and specific action plan written in simple and plain language that will turn the curve, and improve public health outcomes. The RBA training course immersed me in this framework, and the use of analogies helped me make sense of the work. I am excited and confident in applying the RBA principles of Turn the Curve thinking to implement data-informed decision-making across the Finger Lakes.

In my work with grassroots groups and community organizations, people often groan when you bring up planning. Results-Based Accountability provides a framework that uses approachable language to talk about what people want to achieve, keeps data from being solely interpreted as being academic, puts action at the center of planning, and opens doors to understanding how to measure progress. Used well, this framework could change peoples’ expectations around planning. I look forward to using RBA in my work.

I was initially invited to learn about Results-Based Accountability as an alternative to traditional program evaluation methods and absolutely loved the book “Trying Hard is Not Good Enough.” The RBA Professional Certification program emphasized that it is even more than that: It is a comprehensive framework to develop strategies that can make a difference for communities and clients based on partnership, evidence, and values. The opportunity to create a “Turn the Curve” action plan as part of this Certification process helped emphasize the most important and impactful parts of turn the curve thinking. With this Certification, I feel confident bringing RBA thinking and approaches to teams I am a part of. Thanks again for your support!

The RBA Professional Certification helped me to master the principles and activities of Results-Based Accountability. Through this certification course, I was able to take a deeper dive and explore various settings and uses of RBA. It also allowed me to make connections between the work of our own coalition, how RBA can be used for our agency’s own programs, and how RBA can connect all parts of a community to integrate their work for the good of the whole. The certification was easy to navigate through the online portal, and the administrators had several check in points to allow me as the learner to ask questions and to test my knowledge and apply their principles to my own work in the community. Finally, I was given critical feedback on my work, which allowed me to hone my skills, and the ending was an opportunity to practice presenting the information to a group by recording a presentation. I thoroughly enjoyed all parts of this professional training and would highly recommend it to anyone hoping to dive deeper into RBA.

I am thrilled to be one of the first people to be awarded the RBA Professional Certification! This Results-Based Accountability course has sharpened my analytical acumen and enriched my decision-making toolkit. As a Social Development practitioner and researcher with a leading education-centric social investor, Higherlife Foundation, I believe additional knowledge on Turn-the-Curve thinking and data-driven decision making will definitely improve the quality of our programming as well as our ability to track our social return on investment. My RBA certification journey was very fruitful! Once again, thank you Clear Impact for this splendid course. To our Executive Co-Chair Mrs. Masiyiwa and Higherlife Foundation I say Asante sana, thank you!

Boston registers the highest rate of locally focused nonprofits in the US. As a capacity builder in the region, we need accessible and fluid tools that allow us to work across sectors and organization sizes. The RBA framework is a simple way, yet powerful and refreshing, to measure performance and hold ourselves accountable. The RBA certification was digestible, relevant, and accessible to all sectors, experiences, and knowledge levels.

One of the biggest challenges we face in Australia is capacity building across an enormous and diverse NGO sector. The RBA Professional Certification provides an accessible online learning opportunity that promotes local fidelity of the Results-Based Accountability framework. Certification is relevant for anyone wanting to measure the impact of their work to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, families, and communities.

We have seen good RBA practice and bad RBA practice in Northern Ireland.  The RBA Professional Certification will enable others to be able to understand the difference.
