Clear Impact Scorecard is a very useful tool that can help you manage and improve the performance of your organization. It gives you real-time access to data through interactive scorecards, helps you manage actions to improve performance, and most of all, allows you to communicate with internal and external stakeholders about what difference you are making to the people you serve. However, as with any other tool, Clear Impact Scorecard’s effectiveness depends on how well you use it. So, here are 7 ways you can improve your use of Clear Impact Scorecard to help you turn curves and stay accountable.
(links will work best if you are already signed into your Scorecard account)
1. Log into Clear Impact Scorecard daily
Clear Impact Scorecard works best if it is used regularly. Make it part of your daily routine to log into Clear Impact Scorecard by setting it as the homepage of your internet browser. This will encourage you to log in on a daily basis, keeping the performance of your programs in the forefront of your mind.
Logging into the software daily also encourages you to keep your data values up-to-date, as well as the contextual information included in your notes and Turn-the-Curve questions.
2. Explore the RBA Virtual Facilitator
Some features of Clear Impact Scorecard are built using ideas in Results-Based Accountability (RBA). The Scorecard is customizable, so it’s not necessary to use RBA, but the techniques may help you improve your Indicators and Performance Measures.
The RBA virtual facilitator contains a series of videos and tutorials designed to help you get from talk-to-action. You will learn how to create effective Results to guide your work, Indicators to measure the wellbeing in your community, and Performance Metrics to measure the success of your programs and services. You will also learn how to complete the Turn-the-Curve process for improving your Indicators and Performance Measures.

3. Add more users
Increasing collaboration amongst your staff and partners is a huge benefit of using Scorecard. Free tier subscriptions get three users, and Premium and Network subscriptions get unlimited users. Adding additional users will allow you to take advantage of advanced features of the Scorecard like assigning actions and providing partners with access. Adding users is the same for every type of Scorecard subscription.
To add a new user to your Clear Impact Scorecard site:
- Select the Add New User button from the Users list page.
- Fill out the Email address, First Name, and Last Name of the user. Make sure to double check that the Email Address is correct since this will be the username the person logs in with and receives their credentials at.
- Select the appropriate access control. You can use one of the quickset blue buttons to speed up the process and then customize from there. For an explanation of each role click on the question mark next to the item or see the complete list below.
- Select the appropriate scorecards that the user should be able to access. This tab does not appear if the user is given the “All Scorecards” user role. Note – if a user has access to a scorecard then they will also have access to view or edit (depending on their access control) all the scorecard objects that are on that scorecard. The scorecard object lists will also be filtered to only give the user access to content placed on the scorecards they have access to. If a scorecard object is not on a scorecard the user will not be able to view or edit that object.
- When you are done select the Save button. When a user is successfully saved an email will be sent to the user with their login credentials. If they do not receive the email within 10 minutes have them check their spam filter for an email coming from resultsleadership.org or resultsscorecard.com

4. Select your favorite performance measures
Select your favorite performance measures, as they will show up on your homepage every time you log in. To do this, go to the performance measure you would like to make your favorite, and after clicking on the PM icon, choose the “Add to favorites” option from the drop-down. You can also make a measure your favorite by clicking on the performance measure, which brings you to that measure’s Turn the Curve page, then highlighting the star to the left of the export button (see figure to the right). This way, as soon as you log in, you will know what’s happening with your programs. This is a great way to remember to update data and complete Turn the Curve exercises.
5. Incorporate Clear Impact Scorecard into your team meetings
With Clear Impact Scorecard, you no longer need flip-charts or whiteboards. Schedule a Turn the Curve activity every team meeting and project the Scorecard onto a wall or screen. Clicking on the name of a performance measure will take you to the Turn the Curve view where you can enter the story behind the baseline, partners, what works, and actions right there and then. Everything you save is automatically archived, so you will never lose your information. You can retrieve old notes by clicking on the clock icon found at the top of the text box.
6. Manage Actions with Gantt Charts
One of the most advanced features of Clear Impact Scorecard is the Gantt Charts. Apart from writing an action plan to turn curves, the Scorecard also allows you to assign actions to your team members. This keeps you accountable, organized and timely. To help you manage your action plan, enter every action with a start and an end date so they are automatically entered into the Gantt Chart. This allows you to look at your actions in one view and make decisions on any changes you should make. You can then easily set and change due dates on actions, edit them or break them down.
You can access your Gantt Chart by changing your Scorecard view. First, find the Scorecard you want to create your Gantt Chart for. Then, click on the gauge icon and select Gantt Chart (see image left). From here, you will see all your Results, Indicators, Programs, and Performance Measures organized into a timeline. Click on the plus signs to the left to expand the selection. To create an action, click on the plus sign to the right of the Scorecard object you want to create an action for. Drag and drop your actions on the chart to easily change due dates.

7. Share your results with others
Sharing your results encourages accountability and transparency, promotes connection with others doing similar work with you, and supports learning of outcomes measurement practice. Clear Impact Scorecard has many different ways to enable you to do this. The RBA Success Stories Library is a user-driven feature designed to let people share successes and learn from one another. So, next time you improve either a Population Indicator or Performance Measure, think about sharing it, as it may be useful to someone trying to turn the same curve somewhere else. The Scorecard Embed feature is also a great and easy way to share your work. You can embed your Scorecard on your website, or share live links through social media. You can choose what you want to share – from whole Scorecards to just a graph.
Check out this article for more information on how to embed your scorecards.
