Clear Impact stands for racial equity! That is why we are excited to announce that we’ve updated our Scorecard software product to include updated National Equity Atlas data. 

The National Equity Atlas posits that equitable communities mean all residents — regardless of their race, nativity, gender, or zip code — can fully participate in the community’s economy, contribute to its future readiness, and connect to assets and resources.  

We hope this update will help our clients access the latest national indicators of racial equity so that they can improve their decision-making, focus their strategies on the most impacted communities, and contribute to creating equitable communities.

What is the National Equity Atlas?

The National Equity Atlas is the United States’ most detailed racial and economic equity report card. It equips leaders and policymakers with actionable data and strategies to advance racial equity and shared prosperity.

National Equity Atlas indicators track how communities do on critical inclusive prosperity measures. The indicators track change over time, are comparable across geographies, and are disaggregated by race and other demographics.

The Atlas tracks the following seven indicators across geographies:

  1. Race/ethnicity
  2. Nativity and ancestry 
  3. People of Color
  4. Population growth
  5. Racial generation gap
  6. Diversity index
  7. Median age

For each indicator, the National Equity Atlas includes insights & analyses, drivers of inequity, strategies, and strategy case studies. Each strategy links to resources, whitepapers, and organizations to enhance understanding and aid implementation. 

For example, the Atlas suggests the following as some strategies for the “people of color” indicator:

  • Foster racial inclusion in governance.
  • Build multiracial alliances, coalitions, and movements to advance policy change, including pro-immigrant policies.
  • Dismantle barriers and build pathways to economic opportunity for boys and men of color.
  • Include immigrants by ensuring access to health care, driver’s licenses, in-state tuition, and municipal ID cards regardless of immigration status.

Why is the National Equity Atlas Important?

According to PolicyLink – a national research and action institute advancing racial and economic equity by Lifting Up What Works® – “as the nation moves toward becoming majority people of color, achieving equity—just and fair inclusion into a society in which all can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential—is the moral imperative, a potent antidote to inequality, and the superior growth model.”

To combat inequality and achieve an equitable growth model, funders, communities, organizations, and policymakers must have access to the latest demographic data and indicators of wellbeing.

How to Access National Equity Atlas Data Templates in Scorecard

In the Tools menu, there are two options for scorecard templates. These are valuable for not only seeing how successful scorecards are set up, but you also may find templates here you can use for your organization.

Choose Tools / Equity Atlas Template to see data sets from the National Equity Atlas. 

As with user templates, this list is searchable, and you can select and install any scorecards from the list.
