Introduction
Clear Impact offers two software solutions for organizations looking to expand their impact using data: Scorecard and Compyle. These systems serve different purposes but work together to provide a complete set of data collection, management, and impact strategy tools for organizations of any size. For instance, Compyle’s Form Logic Rules upgrade allows users to create responsive forms and surveys using if/ then statements.
What is Compyle in a Nutshell?
Compyle is client-level data collection software that can be used alone or alongside Scorecard to capture information about the individuals, families, and partner organizations served by your organization. Designed to capture identifying information, Compyle features service recipient management, custom survey and data collection tools, analytics, and an optional Scorecard integration.
You can use Compyle to gather information from both external users, such as participants, and internal users, like staff and volunteers. The collected data can be analyzed at the individual level and aggregated for a data point. Compyle’s outcomes feature allows you to follow an individual’s responses over time to a particular question so you can see how they have changed throughout the program. To view aggregate information about multiple participants, use the “Compylations” tool to summarize data and create visualizations. Compylation results can be sent to Scorecard directly through an integrated Scorecard feed.
There are many applications for Compyle, such as:
- Keeping track of program participants and activities with fully customizable forms.
- Surveying community members and other key stakeholders to get input from the people you serve.
- Gathering feedback from staff and volunteers to ensure that your workforce is set up for success.
Compyle Form Logic Rules
Form logic is a sophisticated feature within survey and data collection tools that enhances the user experience and data quality by making surveys more intuitive and efficient. Form logic involves setting up rules that dynamically change a survey’s behavior based on respondents’ answers. Form Logic can include displaying or hiding questions, skipping irrelevant sections, and ensuring that follow-up questions are appropriately targeted.
In Compyle, “Form Logic Rules” are If-Then conditions that can be added to surveys or forms to change the form in response to what the user enters in a field or combination of fields. These Skip Logic Rules make the form interactive during data entry and when reviewing saved forms. Form Logic Rules affect only the survey form or note form that they are created for, but there is no limit to the number of forms that can have rules.
This type of skip logic can be used to ensure that users see and are required to complete only the question fields that apply to them on a particular form. This allows for different versions of the same form for different people. For instance, an assessment might have additional questions for someone exiting a program that would not be applicable to new and continuing service recipients.
What Sets Compyle Apart as a Survey Tool: Data Update Fields
Clear Impact Compyle stands out from other survey tools by offering comprehensive data management capabilities that extend beyond simple survey responses. Compyle allows organizations to build and maintain detailed profiles for each survey respondent, creating a dynamic and ongoing record of interactions and data points.
Profile Building and Longitudinal Analysis
One of Compyle’s key differentiators is its ability to create and update individual profiles with each survey completed. This feature means that rather than viewing survey responses in isolation, organizations can see a holistic picture of each respondent over time. All survey data from a single individual is aggregated into their profile, enabling longitudinal analysis to track changes and trends in responses. This comprehensive view is invaluable for understanding the evolving needs and experiences of respondents, making data-driven decisions, and tailoring interventions more effectively.
Data Update Fields
Compyle’s “data update fields” further enhance its functionality by allowing respondents to update their information directly through the survey. This feature ensures that the data in each profile remains current and accurate. For example, if a respondent’s contact information, employment status, or other key details change, they can easily update this information in their profile through a survey. This dynamic updating capability reduces administrative burden and ensures that organizations always have the most up-to-date information, leading to more precise and relevant data analysis.
Conclusion and Next Steps
By combining traditional survey functionalities (like Form Logic) with advanced data management and profile-building features, Clear Impact Compyle offers a unique and powerful tool for organizations in the social and public sectors. This comprehensive approach not only improves the quality and utility of the data collected but also fosters deeper insights, more effective program management, and improved service delivery.
