Justin Miklas has spent his career helping government and nonprofit leaders answer a deceptively simple question: is what we’re doing actually making life better in our communities? As President of Clear Impact, he’s a consultant, trainer, and sought-after speaker on Results-Based Accountability (RBA) and data-driven performance improvement — work that has taken him across the United States and to more than ten countries.
He isn’t just an advocate for the method; he helped build the tools behind it. Justin was one of the original concept designers of the Clear Impact Scorecard, the web-based platform thousands of public and nonprofit leaders use to track performance and advance community wellbeing. He went on to shape the rest of the suite as well — helping create Clear Impact Compyle, the company’s case management, survey, and analytics platform, and designing the concept for Clear Impact Showcase, which turns program data into compelling public-facing dashboards and impact reports. He also developed the Clear Impact Scorecard Certification Program and remains one of its lead presenters.
Justin’s path to social impact runs through design: he began his career in architectural design focused on sustainable commercial development, and that systems-thinking mindset still shapes how he helps communities build measurable, lasting change. Outside Clear Impact, he is Co-Founder and Managing Director of J Squared Properties, LLC, a real-estate investment and property management firm in Charlotte, NC, and an adviser to LDRJ, LLC, a private equity firm in Pittsburgh, PA.
What drives him is helping community leaders see their work through a fresh lens — and inspiring them to get creative about achieving real, positive results.
