On Jan. 20, 2021, President Joe Biden took a step towards leveling the playing field of opportunity for people of color.
The newly inaugurated president signed Executive Order 13985 into law, which sought to advance racial equity in underserved communities through the help of the federal government.
“Equal opportunity is the bedrock of American democracy, and our diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths,” Biden said in a press release. “But for too many, the American Dream remains out of reach. Entrenched disparities in our laws and public policies, and in our public and private institutions, have often denied that equal opportunity to individuals and communities.”
Establishing, developing, and maintaining racial equity is an essential component of any community. For non-profits, government agencies, and NGOs, reflecting those values is even more important.
But doing so isn’t as straightforward as simply hiring more people of color, but rather requires a resolute plan of action. A plan designed to maximize the diversity of backgrounds needed to foster the foundation for the ideal inclusive work environment.
Though the United States government is taking steps to address racial inequity, policy changes must be followed up with action, consistent measurement of the data disaggregated by race, and continuous improvement of strategies based on the data.
That’s where social service software like Clear Impact’s Scorecard and Compyle can aid in bridging that gap. It can help you take the first steps toward creating communities that thrive based on the wealth of diverse and unique experiences and perspectives, rather than suffering as a consequence of these differences.
Racial inequity is a permeating problem in almost all parts of society, having the potential to develop without anyone noticing until it’s too late.
Authentically integrating racial equity data into your decision-making won’t just help end the pervasive culture of racial inequity across the country, but can assist in developing effective strategies to ensure that your team can create a collective positive impact.
The Clear Impact Scorecard social service software allows for a streamlined, coordinated system of management designed to track and disaggregate data precisely and efficiently. Through data-driven analysis, progress monitoring measuring meaningful impact by specific programs and services can tell you what’s working, and what isn’t.
Clear Impact’s Compyle system for case management further facilitates the process of getting the most out of your desired data collection and program performance. Compyle provides a level of streamlined structure and organization for participant data analysis, as well as an easy-to-use survey software that allows participants to supply you with feedback that can be aggregated directly.
A lot has happened over the course of this past year, from a pandemic that restructured the way we all live to the senseless killings of African-Americans across the country, reinforcing just how far we still have to go as a society. The impetus for change in all parts of our lives has never been stronger than it is today.
At Clear Impact, racial equity is and always will be one of our foremost priorities. Our motto of “Closing the Gaps So That Race Does Not Predict One’s Success” reflects that, and we hope other organizations can uphold that same standard as the world enters a new era of racial equality and cultural harmony.
