Clear Impact’s suite offers two distinct data management software- Scorecard and Compyle. You can use both software alone, but they are most effective when used together to handle all of your data management and collection needs. To get the most out of Clear Impact Suite, you should understand what each software can do for you and how to use them together.
Scorecard
What Scorecard Is
Scorecard is a performance measurement and population accountability tracking tool designed to use the principles of Results-Based Accountability to help turn your data into tangible results. It works by allowing for easy data input, tracking trends over time, and assisting in collaboration between partners and involved parties. Data sets can be presented in multiple visual formats and have parameters for subjective measures such as “story behind the curve” for providing context. Scorecard is built for data sharing and allows for quick and easy embedding onto your webpage. For example, you can use Scorecard for the following applications:
- Performance management initiatives such as tracking the efficiency of a program over time.
- Strategy visualization to get your team on the same page for future and current projects.
- Project management such as assigning actions, due dates, and monitoring your staff’s progress.
What Scorecard Is Not
Scorecard is a cumulative data collection tool. You can import data from Excel sheets, Compyle, or other data sources, and input summary data manually into the software. However, Scorecard is not designed to capture direct services to individuals, allow new clients to sign up for services, and gather survey responses from participants. For example, if you task your team members with collecting data about specific people participating in programs, they could not collect that individual level data in Scorecard. Instead, they would likely use a data collection tool, such as Compyle, to collect individual data and aggregate it for import into Scorecard.
Compyle
What Compyle Is
Compyle is a client level data collection software that can be used alone or alongside Scorecard to capture information about the individuals, families, and partner organizations served by your organization. Designed to capture identifying information, Compyle features participant case management, custom survey and data collection tools, analytics, and an optional Scorecard integration. You can use Compyle to gather information from both external users, such as participants, and internal users, like staff and volunteers. That collected data can be analyzed at the individual level and in aggregate for a data point. Compyle’s outcomes feature allows you to follow an individual’s responses over time to a particular question so you can see how they have changed throughout the program. To view aggregate information about multiple participants, use the “Compylations” tool to summarize data and create visualizations. Compylation results can be sent to Scorecard directly through an integrated Scorecard feed.
There are many applications for Compyle, such as:
- Keeping track of program participants using custom parameters.
- Surveying community members to get input from the people you serve.
- Keeping up with staff and volunteers to ensure that your workforce is set up for success.
What Compyle Is Not
Compyle is not equipped to handle population accountability and performance measurement in the same way that Scorecard is. Compyle’s compylations can show you aggregate data for a singular data point over time, and you can also disaggregate that data along demographic lines. However, comparing aggregate data from more than one data point is beyond Compyle’s capabilities. Unlike Scorecard, Compyle is not designed for longitudinal analysis across multiple data points at once, and Compyle’s data visualizations may not be accessed outside Compyle.
Overview
When thinking about Scorecard and Compyle, you can visualize Scorecard as the big data picture software that you share with your community and Compyle as a close-up of one section of the data picture where you can see individual details that remain private. For example, Compyle can track participant satisfaction broken down by gender over time, and Scorecard can show how those satisfaction rates for your program compare to the average satisfaction rate by gender of all similar programs in your geographic area.
You can also think of Compyle as the origin of your data sets with all of the identifying information. In contrast, Scorecard is where you analyze and turn deidentified, aggregate data into actions and strategies for your organization.
